SERVER ADMINISTRATOR

OVERVIEW
SNOPAC Emergency Communications is a 9-1-1 police, fire and medical public safety communications center serving Snohomish County which processes emergency and non-emergency calls to 39 police and fire agencies.  SNOPAC 911 is one of the busiest dispatch centers in Washington State. 

We are seeking candidates to fill a full time Server Administrator position in our Everett, WA regional communications facility.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Click here for a complete job description)

  • Design and Deployment
    Responsible for deploying, maintaining and supporting Windows servers; installing and configuring the Windows operating system and Windows-based applications, including IIS, SQL Server, Exchange, SharePoint and Active Directory; monitoring Windows servers and applications that run in the Windows environment, and responding to real time disruptions in service.
  • Hosting Solution Support
    Manage hosting servers and hosting accounts; configure IIS and FTP servers and troubleshoot issues with agency facing presence.
  • Training and Testing
    Proficient in understanding and presenting SNOPAC service offerings to internal and external clients.  Responsible for staying up-to-date with the latest Microsoft and other server related vendors, as well as various related IT technologies.  Administer necessary training and knowledge transfer to SNOPAC technical staff.  Provide testing for domain configurations, hardware and software updates, user interfaces, and associated systems.
  • Other Duties
    Other duties may include scripting or light programming, documenting installation, deployment, maintenance, monitoring and related procedures, and project management for systems-related projects.

QUALIFICATIONS
A combination of education and related experience sufficient to provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities may substitute for education requirements.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Math, or a closely related field and/or
  • Five (5) years of full-time experience in system administration.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Demonstrated experience with the following:
    • Windows server environment including but not limited to Windows OS (2003 – 2012 R2), Exchange (2010 – 2016) Server, MS SQL Server and Active Directory design
    • Virtualization environments (preferably VMware)
    • Configuring, deploying, administering Windows Server Update Service (WSUS)
    • System administration as it concerns security, performance tuning, resource control and utilization
    • Automated host installation and configuration enforcement technologies
  • Knowledge of Storage Area Networks.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to identify with SNOPAC’s core values, set a good example and be a role model for work and conduct expectations.
  • Excellent communications skills and attention to customer satisfaction.  Must be able to communicate to different audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge.
